The Power of Broke
My fear when selecting The Power of Broke was that the author just wrote something, anything, to capitalize on the popularity of Shark Tank. Thankfully, I was wrong. The Power of Broke is an example-filled guide on creative branding strategies to launch a startup on a shoestring budget. It inspires entrepreneurs to open their eyes and see the noncash resources they have at their disposal and to make the most of those resources rather than lamenting the lack of pedigree, or experience, or cushion that they may be missing. Daymond John provides his own power-of-broke story as well as similar stories of other recognizable entrepreneurs including Tim Ferris and Mark Burnett, the producer of Shark Tank. And, as a bonus to Shark Tank fans, Daymond also provides some behind the scenes insights into the show that could help entrepreneurs with pitches to any investors they may be approaching. Overall, the book explains how creativity and authenticity are worth more than money – a good read indeed.
